One of the first radio beacons in the world was installed at the Sea Girt lighthouse during WWI. During WWII it was used as the head-quarters for the beach patrol & U-boat lookout station.

Beacon Sequence: Fixed white varied with red flashes
It fell into the sea on October 12, 1927. By 1952 the entire island disappeared into the sea. In 1990, the waters south of Long Beach Island surrendered a five acre sandbar where Tucker's Island had been.
